FLIGHTS

For anyone who is coming independent of a group, the 3 closest airports to Medjugorje are Dubrovnik Airport, Split Airport, and Sarajevo Airport.
Because the wedding is during a high travel season, you will likely get the best price if you book early – prices for the same flights booked in December or January are often more reasonable than they are if you book them in April or May. We usually find the least expensive flights on www.cheapoair.com

For those who will be joining the bride’s family in Croatia (See Trip Itinerary Page), please book tickets through Dubrovnik airport.

ACCOMMODATIONS

Hotels in Medjugorje book very quickly at this time of year. A number of hotel rooms have already been set aside for our guests at Pansion Laudato in Medjugorje (sorry folks, they don’t have a website!).
The rooms are very basic and clean, in a nice location. Cost is 15 EURO per person, per night, and includes breakfast.

To ensure we have enough rooms for everyone, please contact the MOB, Athena Georgotas at ageorgotas@aol.com as soon as possible if you think you will be needing a room with our group. Rooms will be given on a first-come, first-serve basis, so we may have to put some guests in other locations if we cannot fit everyone at Pansion Laudato.

For those who will be joining us for a couple days in Dubrovnik before the wedding, there are a wide selection of hotels to choose from. We recommend booking an apartment through www.airbnb.com in the Old Town Dubrovnik or www.booking.com for more traditional hotels.

CURRENCY

Most places in Medjugorje accept US Dollars. All accept Euros and Bosnian Marks. Cab rides in Medjugorje cost 5 Euros or 8 Dollars, and it’s always helpful to have exact change set aside for a few rides since most cab drivers don’t have exact change in different denominations.

In Dubrovnik the only accepted currency is the Croatian Kuna, which can be exchanged at the airport upon arrival. They also accept credit cards at most restaurants and shops.

WEATHER

The temperatures in June are typically between 60-95 degrees Farenheit.

CLOTHING

In Dubrovnik, bring casual comfortable clothes for sightseeing and touring. Be sure to pack a bathing suit!

Because Medjugorje is a place of religious pilgrimage, the church has requested that no shorts and tank tops are worn in or around the church of St. James, Cross Mountain, or Apparition Hill. Light clothing, layers, and sneakers are also recommended as you will most likely be walking. It can often be hot during the day and cool in the evening, so it’s recommended to pack clothing that will reflect these varying temperatures.

Attire for the wedding is formal.

TIME CHANGE

Dubrovnik & Medjugorje are 6 hours ahead of Eastern Time and 9 hours ahead of Pacific Time. You might be jetlagged for a few days, but it will be worth it :)
